As an introduction to their ‘Scrumdiddlyumptious’ topic, Year 3 had a day today based around chocolate. Part of this was a taste test and there were some wonderful hats made by the children, as well as the teachers, on show.
This morning we had an assembly about mindfulness:
‘Mind full or mindful?’
The children considered this area thoughtfully during the assembly and Mrs Claire’s offer of teaching additional mindfulness techniques for anyone interested has already had a big sign up.
Year 5 were set the challenge to create a marble loop the loop today as an introduction to their forces topic. They worked collaboratively across classes and showed excellent teamwork within their groups. Mr Dighton was an excellent tester too.
Year 4’s WOW day went well today with the Science Dome coming to school for an immersive experience and volcanic models being made.
It was really inspiring to have a musician tell us all about stringed instruments during today’s music assembly. The bass playing was particularly impressive!
Gardening club are getting ready for Spring – planting seeds in recycled containers from the kitchens. The rhubarb, cabbages and cauliflowers are coming along nicely too.
Next half term we will be launching a character award scheme. We’re not giving away too many details yet, but these cards were named by children today and there will be badges…
The Year 3 pupils are having a wonderful time at Leeson House and are fully immersed in their learning. The first group found some impressive fossils today at Kimmeridge Bay.
This week’s thought is about compassion. We define this as:
‘I understand the feelings of others and consider the thoughts and emotions of others in my own actions.’
