The Year 6 netball teams had a friendly with Kinson Primary this week and performed extremely well to win both matches. Olivia, captain of one of the teams, stated, “It was great that we were all working together and I was pleased to score from a long way out.” Harrison added, “It was great that everyone was playing fairly and that we were evenly matched. It was a tough game!”
We are really looking forward to being joined in September by pupils from Year 2. To support this transition we have arranged several events, beginning with a joint sports session this week.
Children from Year 3 and Year 2 pupils from Queen’s Park Infant Academy worked exceedingly well together and it was great to start to get to know our future pupils!
Three of our Year 4 classes experienced the wonders of the Sea Life Centre today, in relation to their ‘Blue Abyss’ topic. There were plenty of gasps and open mouths about what they were witnessing. Our two remaining classes will be the lucky ones tomorrow!
African drumming has returned to QPA! Our Year 4 pupils now have weekly sessions with a music specialist in order to develop their musical skills.
We are so proud of our pupil who cut her hair in support of the Little Princess Trust. This charity supports children who have lost their hair due to illness. Not only has she raised £250, but her hair will now be made into wigs for other children.
Year 5 had their WOW day today building marble loop the loops as an introduction to their ‘Scream Machine’ topic. Mission accomplished for this group!
There are lots of signs of new life in the QPA garden! Mrs Moore and Mrs Robertson are hard at work with their teams growing both flowers and vegetables. Edible produce will be making its way to the kitchen for Mrs Powell to use during cookery classes, once ready. The new shed is also now being used every day – our thanks go to our wonderful PTA for their financial support to enable its purchase.
