Champion reader!
Congratulations to our first winner of a gold reading badge. In order to qualify to wear this badge, the proud owner has completed 4 separate reading bingo boards – 24 complete books. Superb achievement!
Hengistbury Head
Year 6 had glorious weather for their trip to Hengistbury Head today. They investigated coastal defences and features, as well as plotting the geography of the local Bournemouth area, considering wildlife and habitats within the park and learning some additional history relating to their evolution topic.
Competition winner
Congratulations to our Year 6 pupil who won the competition to design a programme cover for the Summer Fair. Fantastic work which will be rewarded with a cinema voucher courtesy of the PTA!
Assembly
Today’s assembly theme was ‘Caring for the oceans’, with a particular focus on the increasing levels of plastic within the world’s water. Whilst an important message for everyone, the theme was of particular relevance for Year 4 (who studied ‘Blue abyss’ during the first half of the term) and for Year 6 (who have studied coastal features and will be visiting Hengistbury Head tomorrow).
Sports Day
Congratulations to Windsor who won this year’s Sports Day. Hanover came a close second, with Steward and Tudor in equal bronze position. Well done to all of our pupils for their enthusiasm and grit on the day. Enjoy the medals!
Tomorrow’s World
Year 6 began their topic about the future with a Dragon’s Den inspired WOW day yesterday. The children were put into small groups and set the challenge of inventing and marketing a new product that would make a teacher’s life easier. They then had to pitch their idea to ‘The Dragons’. The winning group designed an app that would scan writing and identify spelling, punctuation and grammatical errors. Yes please!
