Year 6 have had a fabulous WOW day today immersing themselves in the Victorian era. The children blew us away with the effort that had gone into their Victorian costumes. We had suffragettes, chimney sweeps, maids, children from the work house and even masters and some ladies!
Throughout the day, the children completed a range of activities to develop their understanding of this very important time in British history. They created Queen Victoria pictures made up of facts about the time and traditional silhouette portraits. To end the day, the children watched a Hobgoblin performance of Workhouse Boy.
Year 3 have had a very enjoyable day learning about all things scrumptious! After reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, the children designed their own chocolate room and had the opportunity to taste chocolate. The children especially enjoyed designing and creating their own delicious crispy cakes. We hope that you enjoy these at home.
Yesterday and today, Year 5 took part in their Wow day for the new topic: Awesome Egyptians. Children had the opportunity to watch the theatrical production of ‘The Curse of the Mummy’ and created 3D Egyptian artefacts.
All the children loved learning about the process of mummification and how gruesome the Egyptians were. They then had the opportunity to see the mummification process in real life and created their own mummified tomatoes. We will be observing what happens to the tomatoes next week.
Year 4 had a wonderful Wow day immersing themselves in learning about their new topic, Tremors. The children created their own volcanoes using clay. Professor Southgate taught the children how to mix substances to create lava and there were many squeals of delight as the lava rose and poured over the sides of the volcano. The children also created explosive volcano paintings in the style of Nick Rowland. They learned how to use different techniques and colours to create the dramatic effect. What a fantastic Wow day!
Year 3 thoroughly enjoyed their Wow day today, linked to their topic ‘Burps, Bottoms and Bile’. The highlight was decorating their own vests to show the digestive system and then creating ‘poo’ in the classroom!
Year 4 had an incredible Wow day on Friday for their Potions topic. They experimented with a range of different materials to create bath bombs and slime. They also had the opportunity to see what happened when you add dry ice to water. An interesting and enjoyable day was had by all (especially our resident Science Whizz, Mrs Southgate!).
