The Year 5 children arrived safely at Hooke Court yesterday and have been having a brilliant time. They have had a very muddy experience in WW1 trenches and enjoyed singing some songs from that era.
The Hooke Court staff have also commented on how well they have all eaten – the clearest plates of any school they have had!
All had a good nights sleep and are thoroughly enjoying the experience.
Year 3 had their WOW day for their ‘Flow’ topic. They completed four activities:
- Waterwise – a special guest worked with us to gain a better understanding about the water that we use.
- Painting – we created water paintings having been inspired by Claude Monet’s work.
- Science – we tested the ph levels of water from different sources.
- Music – we made water themed pieces using a range of instruments.
Year 4 stepped into Ancient Greece today during their ‘Wow’ day. They learned about many different areas of the civilisation and took part in a final play using the content covered.
Year 5 held their ‘WOW!’ day today. As well as creating some ‘Day of the Dead’ inspired artwork, the children sampled some food from a Mexican banquet and had a ‘Mathsico!’ interactive performance from a special visitor!
There were Greeks galore today in Year 4 as the children roared in their new topic ‘Gods and Mortals’, centred around Ancient Greece. As well as making their own olive leaf wreaths, the children rewound time through participating in an Olympic Games and prepared themselves for battle…
Year 3 had their WOW day for the new ‘Burps, Bottoms and Bile’ topic yesterday. Alongside Scientific testing centred around the heart and breathing, the children added major internal organs to blank vests and created representations of human skeletons.
Year 5 ventured to the Science Centre near Winchester yesterday. The visit reinforced learning from across the Science curriculum that the children have covered this year: materials, space, forces and magnets.
